Construction styles
Tilt-up Construction (also called Tilt Wall Construction): A cost-effective way to create large concrete buildings more quickly than with concrete block construction. In a tilt-up construction project, the building's walls are poured directly at the jobsite in large slabs of concrete called panels. The wall panels are then lifted, or tilted up, into position around the building's slab. Tiltwall construction allows general contractors to build a wide range of commercial buildings more quickly and with better control of construction costs than what is typical for a traditional concrete building project.
Precast Concrete Building: A building constructed using precast concrete wall panels. Precast construction is similar to tilt-up construction, except that the concrete wall panels are formed at a manufacturing facility and transported to the job site rather than formed directly at the site.
Tilt-up construction has been a major component of UCC philosophy of delivering quality buildings, on time and in budget, since 2002. We have been a pioneer in tilt-wall construction for 10 years, accompanying our experience in traditional construction and steel buildings. Over the years, UCC has built hundreds of quality buildings using tilt-up concrete technologies. We have used tilt-wall construction for a wide range of applications, including office buildings, retail centers, warehouses, distribution centers, call centers, manufacturing facilities and other commercial / industrial structures. Because of the speed and value afforded by the tilt up system, this method of construction is now used in many of our new commercial construction projects. For specific projects, we have used precast concrete wall panels rather than tilt-up wall panels. Our project management specialists are well versed in the various construction methodologies and can help select the concrete construction system that best meets our clients' needs, schedules and budgets.
Steel Building: A structure built from pre-engineered or prefabricated pieces of steel. In general steel buildings have been well suited historically for smaller construction projects like storage sheds, grain storage facilities and airplane hangers. More recently steel has found its way into advanced farm buildings, riding arenas, commercial centers and more. Innovative general contractors often employ a mix of metal building technologies with conventional concrete block or tiltwall construction to deliver larger buildings that provide quality commercial buildings while keeping construction costs at a manageable level.
Since 2002, UCC has been a leading commercial general contractor involved with steel buildings in North-West region and nationwide. Since then, we have used our extensive experience with metal buildings in a more integrated approach with tilt-wall construction and concrete building construction. Our project managers are well versed in the benefits of each type of construction and can help guide our clients to the right type of building - whether that is prefabricated steel, tilt-up concrete or a blend of the technologies.
